Introduction

Welcome to this journey of learning Quenya!

My intention with this book is to make learning Quenya a playful, gradual, and highly practical experience. Imagine you are in a classroom, learning a living language step by step, focusing on communication and real-world-like scenarios rather than dry linguistic theory.

You don’t need any prior theoretical background in linguistics, nor do you need to possess a deep, encyclopedic knowledge of J.R.R. Tolkien’s Legendarium. If you love the sound of this Elven tongue and want to learn how to speak it, you are in the right place!

The structure of this book is inspired by the excellent language learning series Schwätzt Dir Lëtzebuergesch?. We will focus on dialogues, everyday situations, and building your vocabulary and grammar organically as we progress. The goal is to get you speaking and understanding Quenya in a natural, intuitive way.

Elen síla lúmenn’ omentielvo! (A star shines on the hour of our meeting!)
